A small selection of the songs from Snowy White The Musical by Gareth P Jones (that's me) It's the story of Purry Tail Lane where the cats parade up and down the cat walk showing off how splendid they are. The finest cat of all is Kingsley The King of the Catwalk Cats. He knows he's the finest cat because he has a Crystal Ball. And then one day a new cat arrives & the Crystal Ball tells Kingsley Snowy White is the finest cat of all. This is a modern feline reworking of a classic fairytale. It has themes of environmental responsibility, kindness, selfishness, vanity and inclusivity. It also involves rather a lot of meowing & shouting "Oh, yes you are!" #DragonDetective is a series of books written by Gareth P Jones and published by Stripes Books. The first book, Catnapped! is published February 2020 This is the theme tune, written and performed by the author. It was produced by Matthew Downing and features Joe Martin on violin. The song was originally written back in 2007 as jazz-y singalong song, to reflect the old school noir-ish style of the books. With this version, I wanted to reflect the idea that these books are being given a new lease (and brought up to date) so I added a new bit to the song... Oh, and I wanted to show that the stories themselves are full of unexpected twists and turns - hence all the shifts of genre. Thanks to Matt and Joe for helping me realise my mad musical vision. Rabunzel The Musical is a unique one-man show by Gareth P Jones, based on his picture book, illustrated by Loretta Schauer (published by Farshore). It is one of the shows available from The Ministry of Mini Musicals, which sees performer/author/musician Gareth P Jones presenting a live adaptation of a book into a musical. Other shows include CinderGorilla, Snowy White & Chicken Vs. Egg. The show is interactive, inclusive & immersive. All of the music is performed live on ukulele, keyboard and trumpet. It tells the story of a long-eared rabbit, locked away in a high hutch by her fearful mother. With themes of empowerment, respect, consent & parenting, it is carefully crafted to entertain & inspire all ages. This book came out in 2012 when it was fortunate enough to win the Blue Peter Book of the Year. I don't sing this song very often any more but the book still sells so I thought I'd make a little recording before the chords and words slip from my mind altogether. Thursday 12th October see the publication of the 4th in my Solve Your Own Mystery series, The Transylvanian Express. Here is the trailer, with a brand new version of the theme song to tell you a bit about this story. I've loved writing this series and, although this is your final destination with the yeti detective I'm hoping that there will be more books in this ilk to come yet. Watch this space.
