The finest cat of all is Kingsley The King of the Catwalk Cats. He knows he's the finest cat because he has a Crystal Ball. And then one day a new cat arrives & the Crystal Ball tells Kingsley Snowy White is the finest cat of all. This is a modern feline reworking of a classic fairytale. It has themes of environmental responsibility, kindness, selfishness, vanity and inclusivity. It also involves rather a lot of meowing & shouting "Oh, yes you are!" #DragonDetective is a series of books written by Gareth P Jones and published by Stripes Books. The first book, Catnapped! is published February 2020 This is the theme tune, written and performed by the author. It was produced by Matthew Downing and features Joe Martin on violin. The song was originally written back in 2007 as jazz-y singalong song, to reflect the old school noir-ish style of the books. With this version, I wanted to reflect the idea that these books are being given a new lease (and brought up to date) so I added a new bit to the song... Oh, and I wanted to show that the stories themselves are full of unexpected twists and turns - hence all the shifts of genre. Thanks to Matt and Joe for helping me realise my mad musical vision. This is a roughly recorded ten minute version of the musical based on my picture book about a long eared rabbit called Rabunzel who gets locked away in a high hutch, featuring illustrations by Loretta Schauer. The backing is a guitar & piano. At this stage, it's all me singing but I am hoping to get some better voices on this next.
