This March, get your pupils writing with children’s author, Gareth P Jones as part of the #DragonDetective Writing Challenge.
It couldn’t be simpler for your pupils to celebrate World Book Day with this fun online writing challenge.
Simply send an email to email@example.com with the subject: #DragonDetective and you’ll get added to the mailing list.
Once you have done this, you will receive an email on Monday 22nd of February containing a link to a 5-minute video that will go live on Monday 1st March! (World Book Day is Thursday 4th March). The video will include a reading, a song, some writing tips and the details of the writing challenge. It will remain up until the deadline for submissions, 6pm Friday on 5th March.
The focus for the video – and the challenge – will be my Dragon Detective series (published by Little Tiger Books). There are 4 books in the series: Catnapped! Schools Out! Sky High! and That’s a Wrap! If you are interested in getting hold of any of the books prior to the event, you can buy them here:
Or you can support your local bookshop – or buy signed copies from bookseller Pea Green Boat Books.
The challenge is open to all primary ages and the winner will be announced the following week.
The prize for the winning submission will be a pile of signed books to be shared between the winning pupil and your school.
Remember to email #DragonDetective to be added to the mailing list, but even if you forget, don’t panic, all the details will be shared here and online, so it will remain open to any school/home schoolers who want to be involved.
As with many children’s authors, school bookings are a big (and hugely enjoyable) part of my job. We all really miss the connection it gives us with our readers so please do continue to book brilliant authors to visit your schools (virtually or not). There are loads of great authors and illustrators with the excellent Authors Aloud (including me) so please do get in contact to find the right one to inspire your pupils.
