Friday 1st July

A fun day involving two excellent events. Met up with Ian Lamb from Bloomsbury (now head of Children’s Publicity – well done Ian) then had first event for the Hounslow Book Award, which Thornthwaite Inheritance won last year. It was in the Paul Robeson Theatre and so benefitted from having good theatre lighting and sound. I read one of the Thornthwaite short stories (The Thornthwaite Recital) and tried out my new Considine song, before we announced this year’s winner, Beswitched by Kate Saunders.

The second event was at the British Library and part of the brilliant Pop Up Festival of Stories.  A great venue and a brilliant Stylophone solo from one of the kids.

Oh, and it’s the publication date of the first two Ninja Meerkat books.
